| Nine Mile Corridor Study Update
Posted on: 2006-09-12
Dear Resident:
Re: Nine Mile Corridor Study Update At the March 20, 2006 City Council meeting city staff, and city consultant Birchler Arroyo Associates, presented the results and recommendations of the study that they were commissioned to undertake for the Nine Mile Corridor just west of Telegraph to City Council, the area residents, and the members of the Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals; all of whom were advised of the presentation and invited to attend. At the March 20 meeting, City Council promised the residents that they would be informed of any additional discussions that would take place regarding the study area.
Accordingly, this letter is advice that on Tuesday, September 5, 2006, at 6:00 p.m., the City Council will convene in study session, as a Committee-of-the-Whole, to continue discussion regarding the proposal for the Nine Mile Corridor. Although the meeting will start at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Study Chamber, 26000 Evergreen Road, Southfield, it will be moved to the adjacent Council Chambers for the discussion about the Nine Mile Corridor. While there are other items on the Council Agenda for September 5, it is anticipated that the Nine Mile Corridor discussion will take place shortly after the 6:00 p.m. starting time.
Mr. David Birchler of Birchler Arroyo Associates will inform City Council of the next steps that would be needed to implement the plan should Council decide to move forward with the project. We have been apprised by a private developer of his optioning of numerous parcels of land within the study area, and will also share this information with City Council.
I reiterate that this meeting is not a public hearing to discuss the merits of this proposal. It is a working session of City Council for them to hear details on the report.
If you have any questions, feel free to call me during normal business hours at 248.796.4154.
Sincerely, Nicholas G. Banda Director of Planning and Economic Development
